Donald’s Snow Fight Review

Donald’s Snow Fight is a 1942 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is one of the best shorts in the series.

Donald starts a snowball fight with his nephews in this terrific short that echoed another strong snow-themed Donald movie ‘The Hockey Champ’. The ending gag did not work for me and was rather dated, but most of the rest of the movie was phenomenal. The animation is gorgeous, cozy and so polished, though the score and sound are just okay.

The first half was a solid setup with superb visuals and a greatly utilized setting. It was interesting seeing Donald start the fight himself and he deserved what was coming for him after he needlessly annoyed his nephews. When they unleashed all hell on him, this is where the movie reached true greatness. Donald and his nephews building their own snow forts of sorts was hilarious and every single snow weapon gag worked and was wildly inventive.

Donald’s Snow Fight is a visually dazzling, very funny cartoon that benefits from a couple of very inventive gags and a terrific second half.

My Rating – 4.3
