D.I.Y. Duck (2024)

D.I.Y. Duck Review
D.I.Y. Duck is a 2024 animated short film produced by Disney. It’s a very short, but solid film.
Donald tries his hand at some home repairs, but finds himself unable to control his temper. This is the first Donald Duck short since 1961’s ‘The Litterbug’ and so far the last one in the series. This was made to celebrate the character’s 90th birthday and what a treat this was. I just wished that it was shorter as three minutes was way too little for your film. It just went by quickly and it felt very inconsequential.
The animation is also forgettable, though undeniably polished. I liked that it was hand-drawn and Donald’s design was right, but it lacked the artistry of the golden era animation. With that being said, using archival footage of Clarence Nash’s voice was the right choice and it led to the movie feeling timeless. The do it yourself concept was not just timely, but also perfect for Donald’s character. The entire film flowed well and it wasn’t all that memorable until that final scene that was perfectly executed and a lot of fun.
