Cured Duck Review

Cured Duck Review

Cured Duck is a 1945 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is such a fun cartoon.

Daisy is fed up with Donald’s outbursts of anger, so he uses a machine to help him control himself. This is one of those movies that focus on Donald’s anger issues, which are abundant. I have always found this side to his character fun to watch and this film mined some good gags from his anger. The anger control machine abused him way too much and most of it was too physical, but those moments were still very entertaining.

Cured Duck also has a strong ending. Donald hating Daisy’s hat and her starting to get angry because of it was a solid twist. Daisy is solid here, though her voice was too ladylike for my taste. The animation is stellar, though hardly artistic. This was an important short that signaled a change in Donald as subsequent entries would have him be more patient. The fact that the series started to follow some rules was interesting.

Cured Duck has a very good premise well executed. Daisy is fine here, but it is Donald who is very funny in his angry outbursts.

My Rating – 4.1
