Clown of the Jungle (1947)
Clown of the Jungle Review
Clown of the Jungle is a 1947 animated short film produced by Disney. It is a pretty underrated, fun flick.
Donald tries to take some pictures of the birds in the South American jungle, but all his attempts to photograph them are ruined by the Aracuan Bird. The bird in question is a sidekick character originating from ‘The Three Caballeros’, which is one of the most underrated Disney flicks of the time. I loved his segment there and naturally I liked his short movie too. This bird is crazy and manic, but in a uniquely cartoony and musical manner.
The highlight is the soundtrack as the bird would dance to the most classical pieces you can imagine. His dances were hilarious. The bird is not just annoying, but genuinely insufferable and even dangerous at times, which made Donald pretty much the victim of the story. The other birds are just there for a small bit and the movie had a slower first half that was a great setup, but it lacked in memorable gags. But the second half has that very funny bird drinking the cocktail scene as well as the ending that was quite effective.
