Cinderella II: Dreams Come True Movie Review
Cinderella II: Dreams Come True is a 2002 direct-to-video animated film from Disneytoon Studios. It’s a very poor sequel.

Disney’s ‘Cinderella’ is one of the company’s best films and the one that ushered their great streak of the fifties. After half a century, they decided to make a cheap sequel to it, and the results are just so bad that they really should have left it alone. This is almost as bad as those two terrible Beauty and the Beast sequels, which is saying a lot.
My main problem with this movie is its disparate structure. It was obviously made from a disposed television series as it consists of basically three TV episodes stitched together into an incoherent whole. All three are weak and mediocre.
The first one has Cindy organize a party on her own. That made her clash with others in the palace, but other than that interesting storytelling possibility, the end result is boring and far from substantial. The second one is all about Jaq becoming big. I like the mice and they were cute here with Jaq being once again very well developed, but this entire story was too silly and childish.
As for the third segment, it’s really bad. Anastasia falling in love with a baker and Lady Tremaine disapproving would have been maybe okay on its own, but Cindy getting to help her was a horrendous choice as the two shouldn’t have mended their relationship that damn easily.
And that brings me to my next point – the characterization is weaker than usual. Everybody seemed like their usual self, but because they got such bad materials, the characters also suffered as a result. Cinderella herself is very boring while the villains are not even villains anymore. The Fairy Godmother and Jaq remain the best utilized characters here.

Cinderella II features good animation for sure as it looks polished and modern with the characters being designed faithfully. However, the structure and pacing are terrible while the soundtrack is atrocious with every single musical number being unnecessary and utterly mediocre and forgettable.
Cinderella II: Dreams Come True has some well utilized characters and solid animation, but its soundtrack is horrible, and its worst offender is the structure as it basically connects three disparate television episodes into a mediocre whole. Most of the characters were weakly utilized as they were saddled with such bad stories, leading to one very bad Disneytoon sequel.
My Rating – 3
You can get both Cinderella sequels on Amazon.
