Chicken Jitters (1939)
Chicken Jitters Review
Chicken Jitters is a 1939 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very weak short.
It is weak, but it does have one great scene and that is the ending. Basically the fox gets detonated and what is left of it are furry clothes with a price tag as well. That was not only funny, but also incredibly dark, even extreme for the Looney Tunes. But that is the only reason why it is worth seeing honestly as otherwise it is very forgettable.
We’ve seen chicken being chased by a fox before and Porky on a poultry farm. He is painfully underutilized here. And another problem is the pacing which is odd and once again the structure is bad – the film is prolonged, slow and uneventful in its first two acts and only in the third one we get to see the action and conflict.
Chicken Jitters has a great ending, but otherwise it is entirely forgettable, badly paced and dull.
