Buddy and Towser (1934)
Buddy and Towser Review
Buddy and Towser is a 1934 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a solid, but familiar Looney Tunes short.
Yes, we’ve seen this stuff before as it is basically in plot a rehash of Bosko’s and Bruno’s shorts and in particular those where they chase a fox. Here, we have the exact same thing except that this time around it is Buddy and Towser chasing the fox. Towser is never as memorable as Bruno unfortunately and even Buddy is very dull here.
However, the film is still solid as it is admittedly very well made. It is a fun cartoon for sure. It has an abundance of familiar, but so well executed gags. The tree gag was awesome, I loved the snowball sequence and of course that last scene was predictable, yet a satisfactory way to end the movie. It is an entertaining short despite its many shortcomings.
Buddy and Towser is predictable and rehashed even, but so entertaining with a couple of great gags.
