Buccaneer Woodpecker is a 1953 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a solid flick.
Woody sets out to capture the pirate and claim the reward, but the pirate plans to feed him to a shark. This is the premise behind this fun pirate romp where the pirate in question is no other than Buzz Buzzard. He was a perfect fit for this role and he was very memorable throughout.
The animation here is not as strong as it was in most of the previous shorts and the score is quite forgettable. I also wished for more humor and genuinely well crafted scenarios, but at least the movie flows well and the character interactions are expectedly terrific. Woody was so good here and the movie has that antique period charm to it that made it quite endearing.
