Bedtime Bedlam (1955)
Bedtime Bedlam Review
Bedtime Bedlam is a 1955 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a pretty weak short.
Woody Woodpecker is running a babysitting service and is offered $50 by a couple if he will look after their baby. Woody jumps at the chance. Unfortunately, turns out the baby is an infant gorilla. This is one of those familiar and boring cartoons where the premise is just taking care of a baby and the mischief ensuing from it. It felt very safe and standard.
There are certain darker and more brutal moments as we are talking about Woody here, but other than those fleeting instances of solid humor, the movie ended up being just serviceable and wildly forgettable. The animation is solid and Woody is deliciously evil here, but the gorilla was not memorable at all and the gags were mostly weak.
