Banquet Busters Review

Banquet Busters is a 1948 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a solid flick.

Woody sees that a rich woman is throwing a dinner party, so he goes there to treat himself, but Wally Walrus is at the party to stop him. There is also Andy Panda in this short, but he was so forgettable that I did not find the reason for his inclusion whatsoever. Woody is much more memorable here.

Wally is so well utilized and a lot of fun. I liked this film for being less aggressive than usual for Woody fare, but this did make it less impactful in terms of gags and memorable imagery. The animation is not the greatest and I found the second half not as interesting as the first one.

Banquet Busters isn’t all that funny or memorable, but it’s well executed overall with a nice use of Wally in particular.
