Bad Ol’ Putty Tat (1949)
Bad Ol’ Putty Tat Review
Bad Ol’ Putty Tat is a 1949 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a tremendous entry.
Just when I started to really complain about the lack of truly great Sylvester entries and a lack of his pairings with Tweety, here we get one of those. And thankfully, it’s a classic. Interestingly, Sylvester doesn’t speak here, but the little bird does and all of his talking is very amusing. He’s such a hilarious creation.
Let’s talk about certain scenes. A couple of them I did not care for such as the water moment which I did not get at all, but most are great with the standouts being the opening trampoline sequence which is executed superbly, the female disguise part is great as we witness just how smart Tweety really is and of course the train finale is hilarious how ridiculous and cartoony it is.
Bad Ol’ Putty Tat is one of the best Sylvester/Tweety shorts so far thanks to amazing humor and a couple of superbly executed sequences.
