Alice Picks the Champ is a 1925 animated short film from the Alice Comedies series. It’s a mediocre short.

It’s mayhem in the house as Julius the cat squares off against an aggressive bear while Alice looks on adoringly. This is one of the weakest Alice Comedies due to the lack of any memorable plot scenarios or strong humor. The movie thinks that just if you include fighting in every scene, it will be funny, but it doesn’t work like that.

There is a big problem with some of these Alice shorts and that is the repetitive nation to its action. This one is over eight minutes long and even with the missing footage as the film was formerly lost, but it still felt very repetitious and slight. Alice and Julius are both forgettable here.

Alice Picks the Champ has a weak plot and a repetitive nature to it. It’s one of the worst Alice Comedies for sure.
