Adventure Time Season 10 Review
The tenth season of Adventure Time started off weakly, but it ended with a bang. It’s a solid last season of a show that I will miss despite me still much preferring the first half of its run.

The Wild Hunt continued from the last season’s final episode with a solid end to the Fern character. Always BMO Closing has its moments, but it was overall quite forgettable. Son of Rap Bear is a very bad episode that included for some reason a lot of rapping, which made it insufferable to watch and especially listen to. Bonnibel Bubblegum was also too odd and boring to make an impact. These two episodes were the worst of the entire season that really started on a poor note.
But thankfully things picked up with Seventeen, which is this story that hinged heavily on mythology while introducing a powerful new enemy in the form of the Green Knight. His fight with Finn and the game they played made for a wildly entertaining episode that had genuinely high stakes. Ring of Fire is a solid, but far from great Tree Trunks episode. It’s not perfect, but it’s always nice seeing this lovely supporting character.
Marcy & Hunson dealt once again with similar themes as Marceline and her father argued again, but it was very well written in dialogue and it made great use of Marceline’s character. The First Investigation and Blenanas are both too forgettable to further analyze. Jake the Starchild was a terrific episode for Jake as he had to defeat quite a powerful enemy. This is an action-packed, surreal episode that really worked.

Temple of Mars and Gumbaldia both are just setup for the finale, though they were both solid in their own right. As for that finale, Come Along with Me is an instantly iconic Adventure Time episode, one that was not just epic in tone, scope and action set pieces, but also genuinely emotional as it ended all of the characters’ journeys mostly satisfactorily. The highlight was that incredible ending that was thematically rich and so poignant. It beautifully explored friendship and just how important having a friend or significant other on an adventure is.
Overall, the final episode of Adventure Time was a success. It started off very poorly, but it ended with some great episodes with the finale being a classic. It was a great way to end this entire series and it was terrific fan service for the fans of the show while being genuinely emotional and iconic in its own right.
Worst Episodes: Son of Rap Bear and Bonnibel Bubblegum.
Best Episodes: Seventeen and Come Along with Me.
