A Pizza Tweety Pie Review

A Pizza Tweety Pie is a 1958 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a fine, but not great cartoon.

This short has a different, unique setting for the Tweety/Sylvester series. It is set in Venice. Thus, it has a slew of fun, old-fashioned Italian references and it uses the language in that very amusing anglicized manner. Those moments were the best in a film that was overall somewhat disappointing to me.

The animation is lovely. The canals and the buildings look exceptional. However, the action is a major issue here as it is very forgettable. Some scenes are solid with the parts in the water being the best ones, but for the most part the movie failed to utilize its excellent location to its fullest advantage. Tweety isn’t as memorable, but Sylvester is the highlight here as he is quite proactive.

A Pizza Tweety Pie has great animation and some solid references, but the gags overall aren’t the best unfortunately.
