A Good Time for a Dime Review

A Good Time for a Dime Review

A Good Time for a Dime is a 1941 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is a very weak short.

At a penny arcade, Donald is entertained by various attractions. There are some highlights here, including the reliably stellar animation and Donald’s frustrations with some of the arcades and machines were quite charming and fun. But other than those small moments of charm, the movie felt repetitive in most of its gags and overlong too.

The main issue here was that first act where he sees a picture of Daisy that is risqué and honestly way too odd for what should be a children’s cartoon. It was too sexual and mature, but not in a good way. And she wasn’t really needed here as the movie after that moment entirely forgot about her.

A Good Time for a Dime is a very odd Donald Duck cartoon that has some strong gags and a memorable Donald, but a problematic opening and some repetitious moments throughout.

My Rating – 3.3
