Goofy’s Glider Review

Goofy’s Glider Review

Goofy’s Glider is a 1940 animated short film from the Goofy series. It is a pretty solid short.

Goofy tries to fly on a small glider while the narrator explains different ways he can take off, but always runs into different setbacks when doing so. Unlike the previous short, this was the first one in the series that felt like a regular Goofy short in its formula as we see Goofy trying to do or make something, but fail miserably. The glider did not provide the animators many opportunities for great gags, but a couple of sequences were still very well executed.

While not funny at all, the flick is frequently amusing and charming. I particularly liked the reversed flying scene. That one was excellent and I wished other scenes were as inventive. The movie is overlong for such a simple premise, but it was well score and particularly well animated. The imagery is absolutely gorgeous and the flick felt very polished and fluid.

Goofy’s Glider is gorgeously animated and featuring a couple of memorable scenes, but for the most part it was a standard Goofy short that wasn’t all that memorable.

My Rating – 3.7
