Canvas Back Duck (1953)

Canvas Back Duck Review
Canvas Back Duck is a 1953 animated short film produced by Disney. It’s a pretty solid flick.
Donald confronts boxer Peewee Pete in a carnival ring in this different than usual Donald Duck short where he and the nephews are not fighting, but are joined together against Pete. I did not quite love this development, though it came with an endearing family charm to it. The animation is very strong here and the movie is amusing to a degree.
But I wouldn’t really call it funny or inventive at anything that it does. The carnival setting is somewhat well utilized and Pete is reliably memorable, but their fight was overly extended and not as entertaining as it should have been. The flick just needed extra oomph in its execution and humor.
