Panhandle Scandal (1959)
Panhandle Scandal Review
Panhandle Scandal is a 1959 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a forgettable flick.
Bandit Denver Dooley travels to a lawless western town where he notices a sign, “No Bandits Allowed. Signed, Marshall Woody Woodpecker”. The two continue to fight each other throughout the rest of this forgettable, but solidly made cartoon. None of the gags here were particularly memorable, though I did appreciate the one with Woody acting as a big and tough cowboy.
The animation wasn’t the greatest here, at least not in the version that I watched online. The bandit was not all that memorable, but the two did have a solid dynamic with one another. The energy to the movie was palpable and it flowed well, but I just wished for a better plot and humor.
