Donald Applecore is a 1952 animated short film produced by Disney. It’s a pretty good flick.

Donald is a farmer of apples, which have been nibbled by Chip and Dale. He then proceeds to wage war against them over these apples. This is one the better Chip and Dale shorts as it is as energetic and as funny as you’d expect from them. Donald is so good here as well and I loved how quick and smart he acted on occasion.

The animation is pretty good, the score is solid and the movie flows well and is consistently entertaining. The silo setting was so well utilized, but the trees were overused and more could have been done with that first half. The second half fared better as this is where the chipmunks made fun of each other and not just their adversary, which was quite refreshing to see.

Donald Applecore has a weaker first half, but a stellar second one. It’s a very good short that features Chip and Dale as their expectedly amusing selves.
