Daddy Duck Review

Daddy Duck Review

Daddy Duck is a 1948 animated short film produced by Disney. It is a pretty solid flick.

Donald wants to adopt a baby, and ends up adopting a kangaroo named Joey. Although Donald is happy at first, taking care of Joey is not so easy. This is one of those familiar setups for a cartoon – the protagonist adopts a baby that wrecks havoc everywhere. The kangaroo in question is actually both mischievous and endearing, which was a mix that is tough to achieve at times.

But here that character worked and their dynamic was so sweet, especially the final sequence that was just lovely. That entire bear disguise scenario was both funny and adorable. I just wished that the remainder of the short was as interesting – the bathtub scene was not all that great while the other moments were forgettable too.

Daddy Duck has a pretty endearing kangaroo baby and a sweet ending, but is otherwise familiar and far from memorable in its plot.

My Rating – 3.8
