Sleepy Time Donald Review

Sleepy Time Donald Review

Sleepy Time Donald is a 1947 animated short film produced by Disney. It is a pretty solid, endearing flick.

Donald sleepwalks to Daisy’s house, who tries to prevent him from having an accident walking across town. This is one of those shorts that are very thinly plotted – there is only one sleepwalking gag repeated throughout. Donald not talking obviously negatively impacted the dialogue of the film, which is subdued and most of it was silent for better and for worse.

The animation is stellar, the score is quite good and most of the movie is quite amusing. There are a couple of strong variations to the gag of Daisy having to keep Donald from getting killed. The traffic and building sequences worked. Daisy showing so much affection toward him made the movie quite charming.

Sleepy Time Donald is very well animated, charming and fun, but it lacked the dialogue and energy of the other Donald Duck shorts.

My Rating – 3.9
