Helter Shelter Review

Helter Shelter Review

Helter Shelter is a 1955 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a pretty fun flick.

After a dog destroys a couple of Woody’s houses, Woody finds warmth from the rainstorm in the same house that the dog lives in. Hijinks ensue. This is one of those movies that resembled more a Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes than a Woody Woodpecker short. It gets minus points for that familiarity of its plot.

But with that being said, I still really enjoyed this one. The dog was a lot of fun and quite competent as a rival while Woody was deliciously mischievous here. The animation is stellar and I liked the humans’ roles quite a bit as well. The highlights were the gags in the second half that were so well constructed and highly entertaining.

Helter Shelter is a solid Woody Woodpecker short that is familiar, but well executed and a whole lot of fun.

My Rating – 3.9
