A Fine Feathered Frenzy Review

A Fine Feathered Frenzy Review

A Fine Feathered Frenzy is a 1954 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a terrific flick.

Woody Woodpecker notices a personal ad in the newspaper for a gorgeous rich gal with plenty of food, looking for a husband. Unfortunately for him, the gal is old and fat and she proceeds to chase him around her mansion while he is after glorious food. Now this is what I’m talking about! Finally a Woody Woodpecker short that is actually superb after a string of lackluster efforts during this period. This is a familiar premise that the series did tread before, but it’s elevated with much funnier scenarios.

The choice to have this “gorgeous gal” be old and ugly was a phenomenal one and it led to so many amusing moments where Woody tried to escape, all the while being utterly repulsed by her. Visually, the movie is polished and the mansion looked gorgeous, well detailed and lavish. The old woman was hilariously predatory while the action consistently remained entertaining and well executed. The score as always is just okay, but the gags worked for the most part and the ending is quite strong too.

A Fine Feathered Frenzy is a terrific Woody Woodpecker cartoon and one of the best in the series. It features a superb premise and very funny scenarios.

My Rating – 4.3
