Alley to Bali Review

Alley to Bali is a 1954 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a pretty fun flick.

An angry volcano god in the South Pacific demands a sacrifice, and a lovely young woman in the god’s service finds the perfect candidates in the form of two American sailors: Woody Woodpecker and Buzz Buzzard. The previous film set in Morocco started this tradition of exotic adventure flicks in the series and I am all up for this. These stories rejuvenated the series quite a bit.

The ending was very weak and it diminished the impact of the overall movie for me. It should have been stronger and funnier. With that being said, the animation is stellar, the location was well utilized and it was amusing witnessing both Buzz and Woody being so horny and obsessed with this dangerous woman. It’s a very atmospheric movie.

Alley to Bali has a weaker ending, but strong animation, a fun premise and an adventurous tone to it that set it apart from the rest of the series well.

My Rating – 3.9
