Duck Pimples Review

Duck Pimples Review

Duck Pimples is a 1945 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is solid, but far from great cartoon.

Donald’s imagination, influenced by scary stories on the radio and in books, leads him to a criminal world in his imagination, where he becomes involved in a jewel robbery. This was an interesting experiment for the Donald Duck series that sadly did not quite work out in the end. I respect them for trying something new and the animation is stellar, but more could have been done with this premise.

The voice acting is excellent in this short that also benefits from a strong choice to actually depict all of the radio drama personalities that become alive and torment Donald. But the main issue here remained a distinct lack of solid gags. None of it was funny at all. Donald was also not used best and he was forgettable. The execution was quite weak here and the pacing was odd.

Duck Pimples should have been funnier and stronger overall, though its interesting premise is quite unique for the series.

My Rating – 3.4
