Golden Eggs is a 1941 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is a very flawed short.

Donald goes into a chicken coop to get the chickens’ eggs, but has trouble with the rooster that guards the place. This movie started off on such a strong note. That gag about chickens laying eggs faster due to having “hot stuff” music was absolutely hilarious. Donald’s dialogue in the first couple of minutes made me laugh so much.

It’s a shame then that the rest of the movie succumbed to being just okay. The rooster was introduced and he was just okay. The cross-dressing scene was fun enough, but overall the second half was nowhere near as ingenious as that first one was. The movie should have included more different gags.

Golden Eggs has a phenomenal first half with some very funny lines and gags, but the rest of it was quite forgettable and disappointing.
