The Riveter Review

The Riveter Review

The Riveter is a 1940 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is a very well constructed short.

During the construction of a building, Pete hires Donald as his riveter. This movie paired off Pete with Donald once again and the results were much better than the previous time. This is because Pete here isn’t a straight-up villain, but rather a man who just becomes annoyed by Donald, so that he starts chasing him in that thrilling third act that was so well executed.

I wished for a more memorable ending, but otherwise the action was stellar. This is one of the more entertaining shorts up until in the series’ run. The animation is stellar and the characterization is terrific. Donald being so clumsy produced some amusing results and the building site as a setting was so well utilized. The scene where he makes Pete so angry is the comedic highlight.

The Riveter is one of the better Donald Duck cartoons thanks to a beautifully utilized setting and strong action.

My Rating – 4.3
