Chew-Chew Baby (1945)
Chew-Chew Baby Review
Chew-Chew Baby is a 1945 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a very funny short.
Boarding house proprietor Wally Walrus takes out an ad in the local paper looking for a sweetheart. Woody Woodpecker reads this and decides he might be able to trick Wally out of some cooking if he dresses up like a girl and answers the ad. Woody continues to be similar to Bugs in this movie where he starts cross-dressing in order to trick his adversary.
Woody as this very ugly girl was absolutely hilarious while Wally was at his most enamored and shy in this flick to the point that he was a bit too mild for my taste. I did not like the second half all that much and Wally wasn’t a particularly worthy adversary as he was too easily defeated here. The animation and humor were better, but the plot should have been stronger.
