Twenty Legs Under the Sea Review

Twenty Legs Under the Sea Review

Twenty Legs Under the Sea is a 1931 animated short film from the Talkartoons series.

Bimbo is out on the ocean, fishing in a lifeboat, when he catches a big one – or it catches him and drags him down to the bottom of the ocean. This movie lacked strong animation as the visuals are washed-up and rough. The score is also forgettable.

But where it does succeed is in a solidly utilized underwater setting and a fine use of Bimbo. He is a lot of fun here as he basically gets to kill everything under the sea funnily enough. It’s a dark and frequently quite amusing short that has pretty good world building, but it needed a better story overall.

Twenty Legs Under the Sea has strong world building, but subpar technical aspects. It’s a flawed, but fun entry in the series.

My Rating – 3.6
