Top Ten Bon Jovi Songs
Bon Jovi is one of the best rock music acts in history and probably my personal favorite. This band and their central singer released so many iconic rock numbers that span decades from the eighties all the way to the 2000s. Whether excelling at classic rock or touching us with power ballads, they have had so many amazing numbers and these are their ten best.
10. Born to Be My Baby
The tenth spot goes to Born to Be My Baby, a 1988 classic romantic song that is memorable in refrain and so beautifully sung be this singer. This list will definitely skew to ballads a bit more as I am a fan of those, but still all of these songs are amazing and they deserve to be treated with respect.
9. I’ll Be There for You
I’ll Be There for You is so catchy, fun and irresistibly hummable that it surely is perfect for some television show opening and it’s a shame that it hasn’t ever been used as such. It is definitely irreverent and not as memorable in lyrics, but in terms of catchiness, it’s one of his best.
8. In These Arms
In These Arms is this excellent combination of his two types of songs: a romantic ballad and a brisk rock tune. It’s definitely charmingly romantic in its refrain, but also genuinely catchy and faster than a ballad. I love that mixture here and it’s one of his most underrated songs for sure.
7. Blaze of Glory
Blaze of Glory is another classic Bon Jovi rock song that is superbly sung in one of his best vocal turns for sure. The chorus is absolutely phenomenal and the song is one of those timeless rock songs that only get better with age. It’s one of his best efforts from the nineties decade.
6. Runaway
Runaway is one of those songs that are actually at their best in the opening section. That beat at the very beginning is so iconic that it even trumps the rest of the song, which in and of itself is terrific. Runaway just has a sound all unique to it and it’s by far one of the most entertaining Bon Jovi songs of them all.
5. Bed of Roses
By far the most romantic of all the singer’s songs, Bed of Roses is famous for a reason. This is a song that has been recreated in different languages and by so many different artists, but the outstanding original obviously remains the best version. It’s such a lovely ballad that is gorgeously sung. Its refrain and the lyrics are both so powerful.
4. You Give Love a Bad Name
This endlessly fun number has the power to make you jump and dance and shout. That’s how powerfully sung and extremely catchy it is. It’s one of the fastest, most energetic songs from Bon Jovi and also one of his most iconic for sure. The way he shouts – Shot through the heart and you’re to blame – gets me every time. It’s just so much fun.
3. It’s My Life
It’s My Life features an unforgettable, immensely catchy chorus as most Bon Jovi songs have, but it’s just an amazing song from beginning to end. It was actually one of my recent discoveries, but I am glad that I finally get to experience it in its full glory. Not only is its beat irresistibly infectious, but it also has an amazing message about living your life to the fullest.
2. Livin’ on a Prayer
The ultimate Bon Jovi song, Livin’ on a Prayer is his most popular song that is the first one that will always pop on everybody’s heads when they hear his name and that is for so many reasons. One is its amazing lyrics that tell a tale about Tommy and Gina as this couple who perseveres against their hard-working conditions. Another reason is the pitch-perfect singing from Bon Jovi. But the best reason has to be the tune itself. This song has so many amazing transitions and immaculate sections that every single one is instantly iconic and oh so hummable with the highlight being that woah-oooh refrain that gets me pumped every single time. It’s an absolute rock song classic that represents why the eighties will always remain the best decade for music.
1. Always
Yes, I would actually put Always on the top spot of this list. This is a ridiculously underrated Bon Jovi song that never appears on any list in any spot, let alone near the top. And I never got that as it’s so incredible. The perfect power ballad beautifully sung by Bon Jovi, Always is gorgeous, catchy and just strikingly majestic in all of its choruses, especially the very last refrain. It’s a wonderfully romantic ballad with a timeless quality to it. The singer’s powerhouse vocals have rarely been better utilized than on this gem that will hopefully receive more attention by other people in the future.
Honorable Mentions:
Thank You for Loving Me – A beautiful song that is among his slowest, but still most effective efforts. I adore the endearing lyrics and just how romantic it is.
Crazy Love – Crazy Love is among the best 2000s songs from Bon Jovi. It’s very memorable and sweet in its chorus. This period was actually very solid for the band and quite underappreciated.
Silent Night – Silent Night is one of those songs that you can listen during the holidays as it has that heartwarming, charming spirit to it. It’s again on the slower side, but still excellent.
Only Lonely – Only Lonely is an 80s song that also is rather underrated. This is an upbeat tune that is particularly memorable in the powerful refrain.
All About Lovin’ You – Another underrated 2000s gem, this song is romantic, superbly sung and modernized enough while still retaining the band’s classic tone.
