Greedy for Tweety (1957)
Greedy for Tweety Review
Greedy for Tweety is a 1957 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is such an authentic, entertaining cartoon.
Tweety, Hector and Sylvester chase each other on the streets and end up having an accident. While in the hospital and cared for by Granny, the dog and the cat start their never-ending fight, which mostly involves kicking and detonating their hurt leg. While even more could have been done with this excellent premise, the execution is mostly excellent and the hospital setting did wonders to make it differentiate from other entries in the series.
The highlight of the cartoon comes when Sylvester actually manages to eat the bird. That was unexpectedly dark, but ending in a very funny, again grotesque medical procedure. The animation is excellent and the action is very entertaining. Hector is the standout character here as he is very competent and a great foil for the cat, himself also terrific. Tweety has his one-liners, but he needed more agency in this particular story.
