Heir-Conditioned (1955)
Heir-Conditioned Review
Heir-Conditioned is a 1955 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a funny short.
Sylvester inherits a large sum of money after his mistress dies (it can’t be Granny, right??). His financial advisor, Elmer Fudd, teaches him how to invest while the other neighborhood cats attempt to steal the inheritance. This is a great story that is perfect for the Looney Tunes brand of humor. That sequence with the cats attempting to get the money was hysterical and I laughed out loud how funny the lines were.
Sylvester is excellent here and those cats are so much fun. It’s a different enough cartoon that it really felt unique in the Sylvester the cat canon of movies. My only gripe with the film is that ending. Clearly the short was funded by this economics organization, resulting in a very manipulative finale that resembled an ad, successfully tarnishing the whole cartoon that came before it. As for Elmer being the advisor to Sylvester, it was odd at first, but he fitted the role like a glove at the end of the day, so I personally did not mind it.
