Cinderella III: A Twist in Time Movie Review
Cinderella III: A Twist in Time is a 2007 direct-to-video animated film from Disneytoon Studios. It’s by far one of the studio’s best sequels.

It’s the talking mice I’m worried about!“

‘Cinderella II’ was such a bad movie that anything they could have done here would have been better, but still I did not expect this level of quality from a very late Disneytoon Studios offering that came out in 2007. The entire storyline with the villains throwing a spell and undoing Cindy’s happy ending was actually a very clever idea to successfully follow and remake the original in a way. It just really works.
Although it was overly complicated at times and not best handled in certain sections, most of the fantasy moments were great and I especially loved the third act that was actually incredibly dark for this series. It was unexpected, and thus very powerful and memorable.
The previous movie humanized Anastasia and this one continues that tradition, and although I was hesitant to accept that at first, I was ultimately fine with it and her happy ending was earned. I liked her arc quite a bit and how the film differentiates her from Drizella is smart. Lady Tremaine is also very strong. I disagree with others that she is at her most villainous here as in the original she was the greatest, but still she got a great, meaty role here that works.
Cindy and Prince Charming and especially the mice are all underused in this movie unfortunately. They spent so much time on the sisters and Tremaine and they are superb, but these other characters suffered as a result. The drama with Charming is interesting and he is certainly better developed than in the original, but still he needed more time to shine and the same goes for Cindy and the king himself.

Cinderella III: A Twist in Time features not all that great animation. It’s cheap and only okay. The soundtrack is okay as well, but certainly not at the level of quality of the original. The movie overall is well made and hugely entertaining, but technically speaking not artistic at all.
