Rabbit Seasoning (1952)
Rabbit Seasoning Review
Rabbit Seasoning is a 1952 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a funny movie.
It is rabbit season and Elmer Fudd is on the hunt. He finds both Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny, and the latter continues to trick the former so that he gets shot instead of him. What this film lacks is the action as it’s overly talkative and not enough fun when it comes to set pieces. But it still works because the dialogue is so damn good.
Many lines here are hilarious, the final line where Daffy calls Bugs despicable got me laughing as the way he said it and with a lisp was absolutely hilarious. I also loved how Bugs fooled him every single time, and though repetitive, it still worked throughout as it was amusing following the duck’s very poor understanding of the rabbit’s wording. He’s the standout player here, but Bugs has that funny cross-dressing moment, and Elmer is memorable as well.
Rabbit Seasoning certainly needed more action, but the dialogue is so amazing that the entire movie worked. Daffy stole the show this time around.
