Golden Yeggs ReviewGolden Yeggs Review

Golden Yeggs is a 1950 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is such a funny short.

Daffy Duck is made to lay eggs by a bunch of criminals. Him being put on a gun point led to great humor as he was thus very nervous, and he said some very amusing lines. I loved the ending, and I particularly liked his manipulations to get out of laying eggs with the finest moment being the pool scene, and what he said when he got out of it was hilarious.

With that being said, Porky’s role is so minimal to the point of being unnecessary. And the first half definitely isn’t all that great as it takes its sweet time to get to the better scenes. But they arrive, and they’re terrific. I loved Daffy here, he was hilarious and I wish for more such situational shorts for him as he’s always the best when in stressful situations.

Golden Yeggs is a very funny cartoon with Daffy Duck stealing the show and some great situational comedy at display.

My Rating – 4
