The Grey Hounded Hare (1949)
The Grey Hounded Hare Review
The Grey Hounded Hare is a 1949 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very weak flick.
This short follows a race between Bugs Bunny and one angered greyhound. As it’s yet another sports/race cartoon, I wasn’t thrilled with that prospect, and sure enough this is another one which did not appeal to me all that much despite a couple of nice moments here and there and Bugs being reliably good.
He’s great, but the others not so much. The race itself has some amusing moments which I found solid, but overall the cartoon lacked a bigger momentum and it wasn’t all that exciting or truly funny. Bugs needs better films than this as he carries the entire film on his shoulders and even he couldn’t pull it off entirely this time around.
The Grey Hounded Hare has some solid moments of fun action, but for the most part it’s not particularly entertaining and certainly not all that funny.
