Once Upon a Time Season 7 Review
The seventh season of Once Upon a Time is thankfully their last and although it’s overall solid and it has its good episodes, it’s more tired this time around than anything else.

It’s the people in it.
And they’ll always be with you“

I really disliked the overall plot with again the curse being thrown that nobody can remember themselves and who they really are. It’s boring by now and it really is unfortunate. Some of the emotional drama here is earned and I really liked it, but overall it did not work as much as they obviously wanted it to have worked because they employed the more serious, dramatic and less is more approach that they did with the first season.
I have to say that Andrew J. West as adult Henry is superb and very likable as well as competent in terms of his performance, especially in the more emotional scenes. I also continue to appreciate Lana Parrilla as she’s always great on this show. Their relationship here is so good.
Rumpel died in the end which was too late, but somewhat earned. He wasn’t the greatest throughout this season and Belle’s death was more earned. Cinderella is solid, and her daughter is quite likable. But all of the others including Tiana unfortunately are forgettable.
This season has many clunkers, especially the episodes with Hook who’s rather wasted in this season. The episodes with Henry and Regina are easily the best and I also liked Alice to a degree. The season unfortunately acted weirdly as it entirely ignored the rest of the show, especially in the characters and performers department. And that I did not like.

The dialogue continues to be a problem as it’s quote over-the-top and the effects here are the worst ever on this show which really says a lot. Its heart is in the right place at times and in terms of the acting, this season is actually very strong.
Overall, I liked this season in some parts, but overall I was bored and sometimes even annoyed. But it was worth it for that emotional, very moving finale which really made an impact on me as Storybrooke was so well honored in those last couple of sequences. Overall, it was a fine show for what it was and I liked watching it personally.
Worst Episodes: A Pirate’s Life and Homecoming.
Best Episodes: Beauty and Leaving Storybrooke.
