Building a Building (1933)
Building a Building Review
Building a Building is a 1933 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a very strong entry.
Mickey works for Peg-Leg Pete on a construction site. Minnie arrives and gives the mouse a lunch box. When Pete abducts her, it is up to Mickey to save her. The film doesn’t have as strong of an opening or ending, but the middle section is simply terrific across the board. I just loved some of the gags here such as the one where Pete showers the place with his pants and literally every one of his screams and punches was very funny.
Building a Building is also superbly scored and animated. The animation of the construction place is top-notch and the place is used stupendously for gags, but the score is very comedic in tone and playful thus perfectly accompanying the action on screen. Pete is excellent here and very funny and of course the two mice are wonderful and I am glad that Minnie was not too helpless here as she actually helped Mickey at one point. But I did wonder why the two did not know each other at first. That was odd.
Building a Building is one of the best Mickey Mouse entries so far thanks to terrific score, excellent use of its characters and some funny gags.
