I don’t think he gives a shit!“

I actually liked this sequel. It isn’t a great film and certainly the original is so much better, but it is a pretty solid film nonetheless that surprised me how fun it ended up being. It surely deserves its cult status as the critics were overly harsh to it in the first place. Again it is nothing great, but as sequels go, it is above average.
The movie at first annoyed me as the first act was very frustrating as it started abruptly and Jamaicans and Colombians were pitted against each other in the streets of Los Angeles in the near future. That felt entirely unrealistic, stupid and not to mention racist. Also, I wasn’t the biggest fan of taking the action to the streets in the first place.
But I eventually warmed up to the idea as it felt different from the original and I guess having a jungle again would have been repetitive and rehashed. But because the city was so well utilized for its action, the end result was quite solid and worthy. The movie was a bit too violent, but I liked how this Predator was again very competent and such a great villain.

The characters and actors are forgettable besides Danny Glover of course who is very good in the lead role and honestly a surprisingly solid substitution for Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was a bit too heroic and competent, but again that is necessary if you want to take on this creature and he did fight him really well and the final third was honestly very entertaining and I loved it. It certainly made the movie much better than it would have been without it.
Predator 2 has some great action scenes. Not as inventive or as fun as in the first movie, but still pretty solid and again his gadgets are very well utilized in the fights. But let’s talk about that very interesting, thought-provoking even ending.
So he found his way into the creatures’ spaceship and after killing the Predator in a great fight, others arrive to take his body and they give him a pistol as a trophy. That reminded me a bit too much of how Arnie was deemed worthy and thus spared in the original, but it still worked here and it was a great scene as it showed us that the Predators have been hunting humans on earth for at least three centuries as the pistol is from 1715. That was interesting as well as the Xenomorph skull Easter egg which showed us that they have been killing them as well. A lot of interesting hints were given here.

Predator 2 is weakly paced and again the film is so uneven as some parts work stupendously but others felt either racist or annoying or even dated. The police was forgettable as were those gangs and those humans who wanted to use the Predator for his weapons were overly typically in their goal. But the film is quite entertaining and even intriguing at times that it does succeed as a pretty solid sequel in the end.
Predator 2 is very annoying in its first act. The war on the streets felt stupid, unrealistic and even racist. And the setting of Los Angeles was unappealing to me at first. Eventually, I warmed up to this idea as the city got utilized in the action scenes so well. Danny Glover is very good as the hero here and the final act was excellent and very intriguing in its imagery and Easter eggs. So it is in the end a flawed, but definitely quite a solid, fun sequel.
