Zoom at the Top is a 1962 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a pretty solid, but flawed cartoon.

This is another Road Runner short that is wildly uneven in quality. The second half is where the movie became rather forgettable with the string of gags and Coyote’s plans that are far from his most memorable or funniest. The animation is excellent and so is the sound, but the action should have been better.

The first half is where the best sequences can be found. The cliff sequence is hilarious and so well executed. It ended on such a funny note. The beginning is also very amusing with the Latin naming for the two being among the funniest in the series’ history. These bits helped elevate what is otherwise a standard Road Runner short.

Overall, Zoom at the Top has a terrific first half, but the second half left a lot to be desired.
