Wise Quacks (1939)
Wise Quacks Review
Wise Quacks is a 1939 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very disappointing short.
We follow Porky Pig and Daffy Duck on a farm where Daffy becomes an alcoholic. Now, this is an odd film for various reasons. For one, Porky is not in this film all too much. He is a supporting character and is almost unnecessary which really is sad and I am frustrated when they do that. The film also features other ducks which is interesting as well as the addition of eagles.
I really liked its ending which is hilarious and so well executed. The entire drinking part is of course the highlight as is Daffy himself. He is excellent here per usual, but I just want him to be crazier as he has been toned down significantly recently. The animation is actually very good, but some of the footage was reused from previous episodes which makes the film feel very cheap.
Wise Quacks has its great scenes and gags for sure, but overall it is a disappointment and one of the weakest Daffy Duck outings so far.
