Winter Storage Review

Winter Storage is a 1949 animated short film produced by Disney. It is a pretty strong flick.

Chip and Dale must store acorns in their tree before winter comes. When they see Donald planting acorns in the woods, the chipmunks try to steal them. This leads to numerous amusing moments between the three with Donald being sidelined quite a bit, but the chipmunks are a whole lot of fun. This is one of their better and funniest movies for sure. The animation is stellar and the sound is great.

The final sequence with hockey was quite entertaining, but it is the bickering between Chip and Dale that stole this cartoon for me. Their high-pitched quarreling was hilarious. The plot is familiar, but the execution is so good that it elevated it to greater heights. The film is energetic and very well executed in gags, but I wished to have seen more of Donald himself.

Winter Storage needed more Donald in it, but Chip and Dale are a lot of fun and most of the gags worked. It’s a stellar entry in the series.
