We, the Animals Squeak! (1941)
We, the Animals Squeak! Review
We, the Animals Squeak! is a 1941 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty typical entry.
This is basically a parody of an early 30s radio show where people were telling their unusual stories on the air. It’s not a good parody at all as it just has that same setup and nothing else, neither the commentary nor the jokes to make fun of it. I did like the cat character though as she is well voiced and quite memorable. The mice are typical, on the other hand.
The animation is not that great and the pacing is ridiculously slow. The film clocks in at over nine minutes and it just becomes boring by the time it ends. It is thoroughly lacking in strong, great gags and the overall storyline is great in potential, but not in execution. I also found Porky Pig’s again awfully small role troubling.
We, the Animals Squeak! definitely has a solid premise, but the execution is weak with not enough strong gags and an overblown runtime.
