We Did It Review

We Did It is a 1936 animated short film from the Betty Boop series. It is a very endearing, but forgettable flick.

While Betty Boop is away, the kittens get into mischief. He tries to fix things, but Betty arrives and blames him. Eventually, the kittens confess everything through the funny titular song. That moment when they were singing was hilariously ridiculous and somehow it worked, but the rest of the cartoon is your standard pet mischief plot.

Pudgy is adorable throughout and the kittens are also cute. The animation is fine, albeit nothing remarkable. Betty was sidelined here, but the movie actually had Pudgy in the title, which is only fitting for a series that has become all about him by this point. Pudgy’s expressiveness stole the show in what is mostly a standard short.

We Did It is an endearing pet cartoon that has a familiar premise and straightforward execution, but Pudgy himself was adorable throughout.
