Walky Talky Hawky (1946)
Walky Talky Hawky Review
Walky Talky Hawky is a 1946 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a strong first outing for these characters.
Now this one is very important as it introduces three new characters to the Looney Tunes roster. Barnyard Dawg is here and he’s very good and a lot of fun whereas famous Foghorn Leghorn unfortunately doesn’t get as much screen time as he deserves, but he’s still very good here and his “I’m not a chicken, you chicken” line was hilarious.
This is actually, weirdly enough, Henery Hawk’s carton and not the other way around. But I actually found him stupendous so I didn’t mind that. He wants to eat a chicken and eventually brings both of them together to decide who’s a chicken to eat. His way of talk is so amusing as is his tough demeanor. I liked the animation too, but the short really stumbled in the second act where a lot of its action with Dawg was rather repetitive. The rest of it was very strong though.
Walky Talky Hawky needed more variety in its action, but still the premise is strong for laughs and all three characters are great.
