Two Gophers from Texas (1948)
Two Gophers from Texas Review
Two Gophers from Texas is a 1948 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a solid cartoon.
A dog decides to get the two gophers using the suggestions from the handbook. Needless to say, it all fails miserably for him. It’s one of those standard, repetitive shorts which follow the formula through and through, and the dog literally failed every single time so I wanted to have seen at least a bit of progression on his part.
The action is solid though, and those scenarios are overall quite fun. I did like that dog, he was quite fun, but the gophers were strange to me as their animation and design changed significantly, but at least they retained their signature personalities. It’s a solid film which is nothing special.
Two Gophers from Texas is a solid flick with some good action and solid humor, but it needed more originality to it.
