Truant Officer Donald (1941)
Truant Officer Donald Review
Truant Officer Donald is a 1941 animated short film starring Donald Duck. It is a pretty good flick.
Donald tries to take his nephews to school only to realize in the end that it’s summer holiday season and school is out. I really liked that twist and that’s the best scene in the movie. But the film also has some other memorable scenes with all of the screwing around from the nephews being quite amusing.
The film is another one of those flicks where nephews torment their uncle and it can get pretty excessive and repetitive in its second act. That’s my major gripe with it, and also that it’s rarely truly hilarious. But still, the little guys are a lot of fun and Donald is as great and endearing as he always is. The animation is also strong and I really liked some situations here and how well they were utilized for humor. But it’s not really worthy of an Oscar nomination no matter how fun it is.
Truant Officer Donald definitely is repetitive, but also a lot of fun thanks to solid humor, some memorable situations and a great ending.
