Top Ten Lady Gaga Songs

Lady Gaga is most famous for her fun pop numbers, but she actually produced some different genres and more serious numbers later in her career. I personally dislike her album Artpop so none of the songs from it are going to be on my list, but a couple of songs from 2016 and her famous movie are definitely on the list. But in the end, her best years were 2009 and 2011 when she gave us her finest, most entertaining and catchiest numbers and those populate the majority of my personal top ten list.

10. Alejandro

Alejandro is such a fun number which I didn’t like before, but now I find it very catchy and highly energetic. The lyrics aren’t the greatest, but the song benefits from a particularly strong, memorable chorus that helps elevate it to the tenth place on my list.

9. Poker Face

I personally find this song quite overrated. Don’t get me wrong, I like it quite a bit as it’s definitely highly memorable in its very different tune than all the rest songs on this list, but it’s also too aggressive sounding for my taste and it gets repetitive rather quickly.

8. Shallow

Easily the best and most famous number from the ‘A Star Is Born’ soundtrack is this very deserved Oscar winner. Yes, Shallow benefits from a good turn from Bradley Cooper, but when Gaga herself starts singing, the song becomes very effective and emotional in that refrain.

7. Speechless

Speechless is by far the most beautiful and most serious of the songs on this entire list and undoubtedly the most underrated and underappreciated song that Gaga has ever turned out. It’s very sweet, beautifully sung song and just very effective emotionally speaking.

6. LoveGame

LoveGame is one of her earlier songs and one of the most entertaining of that bunch. I like that repeated line about disco stick quite a bit plus the entire chorus is very catchy. The song’s not the best written of the bunch, but it’s very fun nonetheless.

5. Paparazzi

Paparazzi is quite undone by everything that comes before the refrain which is the problem many of this artist’s songs share, but still the chorus itself is so powerful, very memorable and it makes the song retain a very distinct rhythm. The lyrics are also fitting for Gaga.

4. Just Dance

Just Dance is of course one of the most famous of her earlier songs and for all the good reasons as it’s again powered by quite a memorable repeated refrain and it’s overall a very easy to dance to song which is fitting for its title.

3. The Edge of Glory

I really appreciate this song for having a less clunky and thus refreshing for the artist music video, but musically speaking The Edge of Glory is a clear top three for Gaga and should be in those placements on each and every list out there. It’s just excellent throughout refreshingly so with a great build-up and a superb, majestically sung and catchy chorus.

2. Born This Way

Born This Way is a kind of an anthem for Gaga’s gay fans and it truly does have a very admirable message about staying true to yourself and the importance of self-respect no matter what. The music video is annoying, but the song itself is awesome, very powerfully written, so well sung and again highly catchy in its bold lyrics.

1. Bad Romance

This is the obvious number one pick, but sometimes the obvious choice is the best one. And here that’s most certainly the case as Bad Romance is without any doubt the most iconic number of the entire Lady Gaga’s discography. Not only is the song immensely entertaining and easy to dance and sing to, it’s also accompanied by one simply unforgettable music video and terrific dance moves and those are very important aspects to Gaga’s style. The highlight are all the Oh-Ohs here beautifully sung by Gaga, especially the last grand refrain. I also adore the references to Hitchcock’s biggest classics.

Honorable Mentions:

I’ll Never Love Again – This is the second best song from the ‘A Star Is Born’ soundtrack that fittingly closes the move with very beautiful vocals and lyrics.

JudasJudas is a bit overrated in my personal opinion. Yes, it’s catchy, but also somewhat repetitive and just not great enough for the top ten for me.

Telephone – The same goes for Telephone which is very catchy and memorable and I like it more now than I did before, but it’s still to me not as terrific as it is to others.

Perfect IllusionPerfect Illusion is one of her more recent numbers and it’s different in style and it fits to be played in clubs so well as it’s just so much fun.

Americano – The same goes for Americano which is immensely energetic and filled with a lot of music over singing which is different for Gaga and well executed here.

ScheibeScheibe is silly in the use of German language, but quite fun and catchy in its lyrics and overall a bit underappreciated in my book.
