Top Five Disney Package Film Songs
As I’ve already stated in my character list for this era, the package films truly are the best when it comes to the music. Not only are most of these six films musicals, but they also genuinely have a couple of classics in them. Thus I find all of the numbers on this list to be very underrated. So without further ado, here are five best package film songs with three honorable mentions.
5. Blame It on the Samba
Even the very worst package film got one worthy musical number. Yes, Blame It on the Samba is an absolute winner on all fronts. The scene is filled with psychedelic, colorful imagery, the Aracuan Bird is a very memorable, fun character and the song itself is a terrific Latino number which is infectiously catchy and beautifully composed with an upbeat rhythm to it.
4. Say it with a Slap
Say what you will about its message and I personally find these lyrics should not be taken seriously, Say It with a Slap is by far the very best part of the entire Bongo segment. It’s an entertaining scene accompanied by funny lyrics and a particularly catchy tune that is refreshingly long too.
3. Ichabod
Probably the most underappreciated number on this list which says a lot, Ichabod is simply the perfect Disney song when it comes to character development. It gives us everything we need to know about Ichabod through those very well written, quirky and funny lyrics accompanied by particularly charming, beautiful per usual singing from the great Bing Crosby.

2. The Headless Horseman
Speaking of good old Crosby, The Headless Horseman is another one of his hits which is filled with great singing and also showcasing his great narration talent. The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad surely has the best soundtrack from this era as evidenced by this very atmospheric, stupendously written and infectiously catchy number.
1. The Three Caballeros
As was the case with Jose Carioca in the character list, it’s also the case with The Three Caballeros from the titular movie here. It’s simply the best song out of all these. Not only is it a hugely entertaining, exuberant, iconic scene, but the lyrics are also very amusing and the singing is fantastic. It’s a refreshing Disney song which is very much classical and Latino in style, focusing so well on grand vocals. The tune itself is simply unforgettable and I always have the urge to sing it whenever it pops to my mind.
Honorable Mentions:
Saludos Amigos – I do find Saludos Amigos rather problematic and slight, but there is no denying that its titular number is a great opener for the film with great vocals and Latino feel to it.
You Belong to My Heart – This is another Three Caballeros song which is wonderfully sung by Dora Luz. It’s an archaic, but still very effective ballad.
My, What a Happy Day – Although way too short to be remembered more, this Fun and Fancy Free tune is nonetheless joyous, sweet and undeniably quite catchy.
