Tinker Bell Movie Review
Tinker Bell is a 2008 animated family film produced by Disneytoon Studios. It’s the first movie in this franchise and it’s rather mediocre.

This is a don’t drop. That’s water fairy humor“

When Tinker Bell learns that to visit the mainland she needs to have nature-talent, she sets out to acquire it with the help of her friends. I really did not care for this movie. It’s one of the rare Disneytoon movies that was actually released in theaters and spawned a franchise on its own, but it’s unfortunately very weak, at least in this first outing.
This is one of those flicks that only kids can enjoy, and this time around it has even more limited of an audience as only girls can enjoy a pixie-heavy kiddie movie such as this one. There are some nice messages presented here and solid animation, but that’s pretty much it.
Speaking of the animation, this is the first CGI animated effort for the studio, and although dated now, for its time this was very good. It looked polished and the backgrounds are mostly lovely, but the character designs are particularly strong with every character feeling unique and very well depicted.
But that didn’t save the characters from being boring. None of them were remotely interesting to me personally. The protagonist herself was better than others obviously and she is solidly developed, but far from exciting. It was odd hearing this famous character speak as she never spoke in the original ‘Peter Pan’, but the voice acting is very good, so I was fine with it.

The soundtrack in Tinker Bell is quite mediocre, the storytelling even more so and the film’s pacing is very slow with the movie being quite boring for a kids flick. That was my main issue here – I was never engaged to be honest nor did I find it to have enough action set pieces to merit its theatrical release.
